WALKING ON AIR
effortless everyday movement

Scoriton, Dartmoor, Devon
20 – 27 August 2022
A one-week intensive workshop
Walking is so much easier when you know how!
The focus of this week is on walking. With awareness of how your skeleton works, one part with the others, you generate the ability to respond efficiently to the many stimuli and responses of walking. And walking gets easier and lighter.
We work indoors. Doing a lot of movement lying on the floor takes us out of the usual gravitational pull. The development of awareness generates a resource which continues to be actively available to continue change after the course.
The location is beautiful, and there is plenty of opportunity to explore the changes you have made. There are lovely walks straight out of the village.
The hall is wheelchair accessible, with easy parking.
Five hours of Awareness through Movement class time on four days and 2 – 3 hours on the other four.
So, quite intensive! The environment is very supportive – just don’t give yourself too much to do!
Cost: £370
Booking and Payment
£50 deposit secures your place. Balance payable one month before the course starts.
Please read these notes on how to pay.
Before you book, please send me an email to check there is still a place, and, if you have not worked with me before, what (if any) experience you have with Feldenkrais.
Accommodation
If you have a car, accommodation is generally easy to find, but it’s quite possible without – especially if you book early.
Without a car
Get the train to Totnes or Newton Abbott, and taxi to your accommodation (probably £22 – £27).
Staying in any of these places means you can walk to the hall. Food is available at the pub at Scorriton, and the Community Tea Room in Holne.
B&B
The Tradesman’s Arms in Scoriton, pretty much next door to the venue, is an excellent, thriving pub, with food and accommodation. A discount is available for the week, and for single use of the room.
Camping
Dartmoor Shepherds Huts
A 15 minute walk away. Small shepherds huts, larger huts and tent pitches.
This is a popular choice.
Airb&b
These two options were available in January – check at Airb&b for current availability
“Cosy, straw bale barn, walking access to Dartmoor” (2 miles from the venue – walkable, and the hosts offer lifts)
“Beautiful Cosy Log Cabin in Dartmoor”
This also looks walkable, but check with the host.
(Please note that walking is often along narrow lanes – with generally not much traffic.)
With a car
Ashburton is the local town, 6 miles from the venue (12 minutes by car).
Discover Ashburton has accommodation suggestions for hotels, B&Bs, self-catering and camping.
